Linda T. Gottlieb, MA Biography


Setting new trends in training and motivation, personal trainer, cancer trainer, wellness educator and active lifestyle coach Linda Gottlieb has had an extensive career in the fitness industry, from development and presentation of hundreds of exercise/wellness classes to director of a 30,000 square ft. full service health club and management of fitness facility projects for luxury hotels.

Along with traditional in-home personal fitness training, Linda specializes in individualized telephone/email coaching, addressing the long neglected busy, working professionals who are either uncomfortable with or don’t have the time to commit to conventional personal training programs.

In 2007, Linda launched FitChicks, a monthly support network with workshops held in Shelton, CT to help women take small steps to a fitter, healthier life.

Ms. Gottlieb’s undergraduate degree in Psychology, along with her Masters degree in Instructional Design prepare her to successfully interpret motivation of her clients, work through roadblocks and stages of behavioral change, and excel at presenting fitness and active lifestyle theory and methodologies in an easy to understand manner, engaging her clients at all levels. Linda received the Presidential Sports Award in 1988 and 2003, multiple industry certifications from IDEA, ACE, and AFAA, and is a member of The American Institute of Fitness Educators, The Association of Fitness by Phone® Coaches and Reebok Instructor Alliance. She holds current Adult CPR certification from the American Red Cross and is the first nationally certified Cooper Institute Active Living Every Day behavior change program facilitator in the state of Connecticut.

Linda is on the staff of Yale University as Cancer Exercise Trainer for exercise trials studying the benefits of increased physical activity in cancer patients and survivors.

Linda is a frequent speaker championing daily fitness activity, the connection of food and mood, and realistic and positive perceptions of an individual’s body image. A well-known regional author of No Ifs, Ands, or Butts:How to Turn the Top 10 Exercise Excuses into Fitness Triumphs, she also supports her clients with a monthly Optimal Health e-newsletter and flexible maintenance programs like her “15 minute fitness checkups”.

With her outgoing nature and ability to create innovative programs to meet ever changing trends and client health fitness needs, Linda is well positioned to cast a fresh perspective on wellness programs making and keeping them fun and continuously rewarding. She is a passionate master coach, supportive exercise trainer, presenter and business consultant, working with professionals, corporations and organizations guiding them in incorporating fitness into their lives.
